Busse’s Co., Weiser Battalion May 9, 2017 The Friends of Cornwall Iron Furnace will sponsor a lecture entitled “Busse’s Company of the Weiser Battalion” on Tuesday, May 9 as part of their monthly lecture series. Lynn Otto, vice president and treasurer of The Friends of Conrad Weiser Homestead since 1999, will be the guest speaker at the 7:00 p.m. presentation in the Freeman Hall auditorium on the campus of Cornwall Manor. He will tell the story of why the colony of Pennsylvania was so ill-prepared for war, how they came into being and how they served the colony during the French and Indian War. He will also share their fate at the end of the war. Lynn Otto is a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and Williamsport Area Community College. He was employed in the concrete accessory business for over 41 years, retiring in June of 2014. He is a regular volunteer and chairperson of the Event Committee at the Conrad Weiser Homestead. Otto is commander of the re-created French and Indian War era 1st Battalion, the Pennsylvania Regiment. He serves as a part-time interpreter at Landis Valley Farm Museum’s log farm and gun shop. He also volunteers at the Joseph Priestly House and Pottsgrove Manor. He and his wife Kim, parents to five children and grandparents of three granddaughters, reside in Tremont, PA.
